Salt Pig | Kōura

Glazed in deep burgundy tones with flowing golden accents, this salt pig is inspired by kōura, the freshwater crayfish of Aotearoa. The glaze reflects the rich reddish shells and golden highlights of these creatures, grounding the piece in both coastal life and earthy warmth. Its wide opening makes it easy to grab a pinch of salt while cooking, while its striking finish ensures it looks just as good on display.
Handmade in my little studio in Ōhaeawai, Aotearoa, New Zealand, this salt pig is a true one-off.
